Radioset
A similar radio model, manufactured in the USSR in the late 1930’s, is visible on the table beside the bed in the photo of Bulgakov’s room in Naschokinskiy lane. It’s hard to imagine that Mikhail Bulgakov and Elena liked listening to the official news broadcasts, but love for classical music made Bulgakov to turn on the radio quite often. „I lie, deprived of any opportunity to read and write, and look into the light <…>… the only thing that connects me to the outside world is a lit window of the radio, through which the music comes to me,“ — wrote already terminally ill Bulgakov to his friend in autumn of 1939. Acquired in 2010 from Alexey Petukhov collection.
