Scope
This statement describes the accessibility approach for the public website of the Mikhail Bulgakov Museum, including main visitor pages, programme pages, forms, and published documents.
Standards and principles
The site is developed with reference to WCAG 2.1 principles: perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.
For Russian accessibility practice, the reference standard is GOST R 52872-2019 for internet resources and digital information.
Accessibility is treated as an ongoing process: new templates, forms, and media are reviewed before publication.
Implemented features
Keyboard navigation for menus, links, forms, modals, and core interactive components.
Visible focus states and semantic headings, landmarks, lists, buttons, and form labels.
Light and dark themes, contrast controls, enlarged text mode, and image visibility controls in the accessibility panel.
Alternative text for meaningful images where it is provided by the editorial source.
Responsive layouts that remain usable on mobile devices and at browser zoom.
Known limitations
Some archival images, historical PDF files, third-party widgets, external ticketing pages, and embedded maps may not fully meet modern accessibility requirements. The museum works to replace or describe such materials where technically possible.
Document accessibility
New public documents should be published with clear titles, dates, and file type information.
When a PDF is not accessible, visitors may request the information in an alternative format.
