Wardrobe-bureau «Nun»

Wood, veneer — mahogany. The middle of the 19th century, Russia.
This kind of wardrobes with a semicircular front door received the name «nun» due to their compactness and versatility. They could fit in the cells and combined a wardrobe, a secretaire and a commode. In Bulgakov’s apartment it was standing in the living room near the piano and had a gentle nickname «paunchy» among the members of the family. Acquired in 2010 from L. Tarasevich.
